Luxury Footwear: Kanye West for Louis Vuitton

Following the trend of partnerships between fashion houses and celebrities to fight recession, the fashionista Kanye West, ever present in international pageants, not far behind.

The famous singer will have her own line of footwear and, given their penchant for luxury and extravagance, not surprisingly, is partnering with Louis Vuitton to get it.

The line is called “Don” and will have two versions: High and Low.

The models combine leather, suede and rubber, with front ties and thistle. The Hi Top shall be white, cream and beige, with a striking fuchsia sole or monochrome.

For Low Top version, will offer classic examples of garnet tones with fringe ties similar to LV handbags, or a simplified model in black.

The “Don” will go on sale in July 2009 and its price will be around USD 1,000.

As with Kate Moss + Topshop, Gwyneth Paltrow + ZOEtee’s and Patrick “McDreamy” Dempsey + Versace, fashion houses are looking to make an instant impact on consumers, appealing to individuals with a high public profile and international recognition when promoted in times of crisis.
